Lily Ward Obituary

Mrs. Lily Faye Ward, widow of Melvin Ward, passed away Friday January 13, 2017 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

She was born September 30, 1941 in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late William Blease Johnson and the late Annie Turner Johnson.

Mrs. Ward was a retired retail clerk in various establishments in Georgetown over her career. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She loved her church and attending church functions. Her warm personality and compassionate nature endeared her to many and she will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Mrs. Ward's life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 at Ringel Heights Baptist Church. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the church. The service will conclude at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are a son Kenneth Wade Walker and his wife Loredana of Georgetown; a daughter, Donna Faye Blankenship and her husband Ronald of Andrews; five grandchildren, Ronald Blankenship, Jr., Tabetha Faye Blankenship, Sabrena Nicole Mychue, Brandon Christian Walker, and Lydia Katherine Walker; five great-grandchildren, Hunter Lee Gray, Cody Thomas Powell, Hailey Alissa Gray, Jasmine Cathleen Blankenship, and Taylor Riley Irish; two brothers, Ronald Johnson and J.L. Johnson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Betty Louhope Blankenship, a brother, Thurmond Blease Johnson, and an infant brother, Fred Allen Johnson.
