Lillian McKnight Obituary

Lillian Nicholson McKnight 89, died on June 21, 2018 in Georgetown, South Carolina. Funeral services were held on June 27, 2018 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel conducted by Reverend Charles B. Johnson, her grandson-in-law.

A daughter of Mr. Mack Nicholson and Ms. Lorine Sherrill, Mrs. McKnight was born on February 4, 1929 in Georgetown, SC. She received her education in the Georgetown County Public School System, in addition to the New York City, New York, School System. On May 5, 1951, she was united in holy matrimony to her sweetheart, Mr. James J. McKnight. Mrs. McKnight was a member of New Brooklyn Reformed Church, Brooklyn, NY, where she served in many capacities . After the death of her husband, she moved her membership to Mount Calvary United Freewill Baptist Church, Brooklyn, NY, where she served faithfully until her health failed. Affectionately called "Nunk", by her family, she held a great passion for cooking and had a genuine love for her family members and friends. She also aided in the rearing of several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Surviving are her children, Jane Goings, Georgetown, SC, L. Jametta McKnight, Brooklyn, NY, and James H. McKnight, Jr., Hinesville, GA; one sister, Pearlena L. Kerr, Brooklyn, NY; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren. Funeral services entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
