Leroy Steele Obituary

Leroy Steele, Sr., died on November 15, 2019, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, Georgetown, SC. Funeral services were held on November 24, 2019 Greater St. Stephen A.M.E. Church, Rev. Dr. Carl L. Anderson, pastor.

Mr. Steele was born on July 27, 1938 in Georgetown, SC, to the late Ms. Bertha Lee and Mr. Elias Stewart, Sr., and was reared by Mr. Lucian Steele and Mrs. Carrie Sherman Steele. He was educated in Georgetown County, where he attended Howard High School. Mr. Steele rendered over twenty years of service with the Georgetown Steel Corporation, where he worked as a slide gate operator, until retirement. He became a life-long member of Greater St. Stephen A.M.E. Church as a young adult, where his family worshiped.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sarah Parker Steele; his children, Rovertis Parker, Elwood White, Teresa White, Clarence Steele, Jeanette White, Rosa White, Tatiana White, Leroy Steele, Jr. , Ronald Steele, Theresa Steele, Mark Steele, Lamont Steele, and Christina Scott; his brothers and sisters, Elias Stewart, Jr., Robert Early Stewart, Ricky Stewart, Eugene Lee, Sandra Vanderhorst, Ruby Wilson, and Verbatine Cox. Funeral services entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
