Leroy Earl Capps, 79, entered Heaven's gates on Sunday, February 14, 2016 after a brief illness.
Mr. Capps has been a faithful servant of his Lord and Savior for over seventy years. Over the years, he has served Christ as a Sunday school teacher, Royal Ambassador Leader, Deacon, Lay Pastor and Lake Chaplain at Camp Clearwater, White Lake, NC. He was a member of Nebo Baptist Church in Britton's Neck, SC. In addition, he was a founding member of the Johnsonville Rescue Squad and served on the Soul's Chapel Cemetery Board. Mr. Capps was employed by Wellman Industries, Inc. for thirty-eight years. Mr. Capps was a faithful husband, loving father and grandfather and trusted friend.
Mr. Capps is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Harriette M. Capps; two daughters, DeLisa McAlister (Scott) of Lake City, SC and Harriette Renee Fish (Ronald) of Johnsonville, SC; one brother, Herman Capps (Christine) of Bishopville, SC; two sisters, Erma Lee Miller (John) of Georgetown, SC and Betty Merryman of Nashville, TN; two grandchildren, Ronald "Goob" Fish and Matthew "Bub" (Danielle) Fish of Collegetown, PA; special family, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry (Jean) Pace of Britton's Neck, SC and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton (Sandy) Richardson (Gena and Rachel) of Gresham, SC.
Mr. Capps joined the following family members to sit at the throne of Jesus: his father, Andrew Capps; his mother, Lorie Brown Capps and two brothers, James "Pee Wee" (Geraldine) Capps and Joseph Ray Capps.
Funeral Services will be held 3pm Wednesday, February 17, at Nebo Baptist Church with Rev. Luford Pope, Rev. Chad Hastings and Jerry Pace officiating.
Burial will follow at Soul's Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church two hours prior to the service.
The Capps family would like to extend a special heart-felt thank you to the 4th Floor Renal Staff at McLeod's Hospital in Florence, SC for the love and care they have extended over the past several weeks.
