On Friday, October 15, South Carolina lost one of its most talented wood artisans. Leonard Pergeous Rogers (LP) went to be with his lord about 12:30pm.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Jones Rogers, his two daughters, Wendy Rogers Jones, her husband Al, Leitha Grace Farnsworth, her husband, Bill, and six beautiful grandchildren.
Though LP had civilian jobs in the teaching sector, he is best known and appreciated for his incredible woodworking talent. He was instrumental in discovering and working with Ancient Cypress wood, some dating to 55,000 years old. He has several pieces on display in the South Carolina governor's mansion, as well, as many interesting handmade pieces scattered throughout the State of South Carolina.
LP is a Clemson graduate and earned his Master's Degree at the: University of South Carolina. An avid wildlife conservationist and person who loved God, this giant of a man was loved and revered by many.
The family graciously asks in lieu of flowers or other gifts, that donations be made in his honor to his two favorite places: The Clemson University Foundation Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1889 Clemson SC29633-1889 and St. Joseph's Indian School, PO Box 326 Chamberlain SD 57326.
The family will have a private ceremony at a later time.

I am so sorry to hear about L. P.'s death. My husband, Chad, was minister of the church when the special altar table he made was dedicated, and actually listened to a cassette of that service recently. He was such a talented, dedicated, sincere person, and it was my privilege to be associated with him and his family when we were there from 1989-1999. I am thankful for all of you and pray that you are all well.
