Leo Devlin Obituary
Leo Michael Devlin, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at the age of 87, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Washington, D.C., on October 11, 1938, Leo's character was forged by his deep sense of duty. After earning his degree from the University of Maryland, he went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps. It was during his time at Parris Island that he first met Betty Perry, the woman who would become the love of his life. They settled in Beaufort, South Carolina. As their family grew, Leo built a long and respected career in the seafood industry. Throughout his career and various jobs, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Leo's greatest joy and pride, however, was his family. He was a dedicated husband and loving father to his daughters and their loves, and his face lit up at the sight of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Leo was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Esther Elizabeth "Betty" Perry Devlin, and by his parents, Estelle L. Devlin Ryan and John M. Devlin.
Leo then went on to find companionship with Lynn Jennings for a time. He is lovingly remembered by his three sisters, Jackee Dennis, Jenny D. Abato, and Mary Bailey; his beloved daughters, Denise Devlin Vance, Shawn Devlin Seng (Steven), Michelle Devlin-Rabon (Scott), and "#4" Cindy Graves (Mike); his ten cherished grandchildren-Kimberly Vance, Joshua Vance (Kemper), Michael Seng (Heather), Shelby Seng Feltner (Daniel), Miranda Seng Hicks (Tyler), Shyanne Seng Waldron (Jake), Travis Rabon (Morgan), Jaimie Rabon Achor (Adam), Taylor Rabon Waterbury (Kane), and Averi Graves Drawdy (Graham), his 22 great-grandchildren, and his many nieces and nephews- all of whom brought endless light to his life.
He was a devoted family man and known for his wisdom, quiet strength, and ever-present humor, Leo's legacy is one of devotion and simple principle: value your family, and always put in a hard day's work. His family takes comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved Betty.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Leo in a Celebration of Life gathering in the style of an "Irish Wake". This joyful gathering will be held at Southside Park in Beaufort on Saturday November 1, 2025. (2614 Southside Blvd, Beaufort) from 4-6 pm.
On Monday November 3, 2025 at 2 pm family and friends are invited to the National Cemetery to pay their final respects to Leo. For those wishing to participate in the procession, please meet at Anderson Funeral Home at 1pm. (611 Robert Smalls Pkwy)
