Howard Younts Obituary

Howard L. Younts III, 69, of Pawleys Island, passed away peacefully from a long and valiant battle of a rare form of Alzheimer's on Saturday, October 9. Howard was born on January 27, 1952 in Savannah, GA, the son of the late Howard L Younts, Jr. and Millie Schuller Younts.

Howard was a golf course superintendent in the Grand Strand Area for many years; worked at the Sea Mist Hotel for several years and his work career ended at Professional Lake Management due to his illness. Howard was a graduate of Edmonds High School in Sumter, Sumter Technical College and Horry Georgetown Technical College. Howard proudly served in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Paul's Waccamaw United Methodist Church.

Howard is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Patty Younts. Additionally, he is survived by his step-sister, Judy Wilson (Brady) of Sumter; step-brother, Dr. Joseph McCulloch (Gail) of Shreveport, LA; special cousins Elizabeth Owen of Durham, NC; Tommy Owen (Terri) of St. Louis, MO; Georgine Boucher of San Francisco, CA; sisters-in-law Evelyn Ewing of Myrtle Beach and Emma Stump (Sam) of Sissonville, WV; brother-in-law Marshall Wiblin (Marie) of Sissonville, WV. Howard had many cherished nieces and nephews who include: Meredith Proveaux (Daniel); Shannon Griffin (Dane); Bowen McCulloch (Sasha); Brett McCulloch (Emma); Charles Sparks (Beth); Jolinda Sisson (Rob); Penny Eugenio (Jon); Tim Sparks (Jenny); Sam Stump (Patricia); Marsh Wiblin; Ann Baldwin (Dale); Jack Sparks (Melodie), as well as a loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Howard's life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 6, 2021 at St. Paul's Waccamaw United Methodist Church, 180 St. Paul's Place, Pawleys Island, SC 29585. The family will receive friends after the service. Due to Covid, we ask for everyone to wear masks.
