Gordon Robotham Obituary

Gordon "Rick" Richards Robotham, Jr., 82 of Beaufort, SC, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at his residence in Beaufort with his daughter and wife of 50 years by his side. Rick was born on July 19, 1943, in New York, New York, the son of the late Gordon Richards, Sr. and the late Elizabeth (Bleser) Robotham. He later married Pamela "Tenny" Cronk on January 10th, 1975, in St. Croix VI. He graduated from West Chester University and continued his studies at Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine followed by an internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City and began his veterinary practice in 1973. Rick held a special interest in reptiles and gave museum lectures on snakes and exotic animals. He enjoyed visits to the Pine Barrens recording a variety of frog sounds. He took great pleasure in numerous trips to Maine throughout the decades. Rick was an avid collector of rare books and first editions; photographing authors and poets performing at The New School. In addition, he practiced karate in NYC for many years. He retired in 2013 from his veterinary position at Morgan Island in Beaufort, South Carolina. Rick enjoyed having friends and family visit in beautiful South Carolina. Survivors include: his wife: Tenny Robotham; daughter: Rhett Robotham; his niece: Nancy Landis Dale; brother-in-Law: David Landis; Cousin: Shef Robotham. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister: Leslie Landis; his nephew: Robbie Landis; and his half-brother: David Robotham. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to your local animal shelter or adopt an orange cat (Rick's favorite).
