Geraldine Flowers-Harrelson Obituary

Geraldine Garnet Coker Flowers-Harrelson, 82, the widow of Samuel James "Pete" Flowers and Gerald Walter Harrelson, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at her residence.

Mrs. Harrelson was born the daughter of Whildon Leory Coker and Allie Lee Moore Coker on August 23, 1933 in Andrews. She was a 1951 graduate of Andrews High School. She was a former employee of Public Savings Insurance and a retired employee of Oneita Industries. She was a faithful member of Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served in the Church Choir. She was the founder and number one fan of the Rhett and Allie Fan Club. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and loyal friend. Her greatest accomplishment was the love and Godly heritage she gave to her family and friends. "Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised" (Proverbs 31:31).

She is survived by: a daughter, Cheryl F. (Ray) Rogers; two grandchildren, Rhett and Allie; and her God-children, Kristen Coker (Joe Vanadia) and thier daughter Sophia, and Brooke C. (Jeffrey) Newton and her son Kipp Newton; three brothers, Ansel (Sharon) Coker, Harry (Linda) Coker, Larry (Belinda) Coker; three sisters, Harriett (Wayne) Cox, Vivian C. Tyler, and Beverly C. Poe. She also leaves behind her extended family: Roger (Janice) Harrelson and family, Harriett P. Coker, Iva C. Coker, Mattie Singleton, Ann Flowers, Virginia (Ken) Locklear, Bootsie Harrelson, a large number of nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Tom Teal.

She is predeceased by: her parents; her two husbands; four brothers, Wilden Leroy "WL" Coker, James Coker, Jack Coker, and Dan Coker; and two sisters, Margaret C. Wiggins and Annie Lee Coker.

A Home Going Celebration will be 2PM, Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment will follow in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6-8PM, Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Andrews Chapel.
