George Lazarou Obituary

George Eustace Lazarou, Sr., 85, the beloved husband of Patricia Ann Stendahl Lazarou, departed this life, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Lazarou was born the son of George Lazarou and Dearia Anthony Lazarou on November 11, 1931 in Buffalo, NY. He attended Buffalo Technical School and also attended the University of Buffalo. He enlisted in the United States Army on August 8, 1952 and received an Honorable Discharge on July 24, 1954. Sergeant Lazarou fought in the Korean Conflict and was awarded numerous medals including the National Defense Service medal, the Korean Service medal, and the United Nations Service medal. He was a retired employee of Wilson Foods and a member of the St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church of Myrtle Beach. He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and a loyal friend.

He leaves behind: his wife; five children, Linda Michele (Edward) Schermerhorn-Prew, Tobin Renee (Robert) Schermerhorn-Laschever, Lisa Helene (Timothy) Manning, George Ann (Fred) Hitchcock, and Geroge Emmanuel (Abbey) Lazarou; twelve grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a sister, Rae Dellio.

He was predeceased by: his parents; and three sisters, Helen Lazarou, Antonia Zacharoudis, and Mary Truman.

A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be 2PM, Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

The Lazarou family will receive family and friends immediately after the service.

The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the Amedisys Home Health Care and Hospice teams for their loving care and compassion to George and his family.
