Evelena Lawyer Obituary

Evelena Shirlena White Lawyer died on May 6, 2019 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown, South Carolina. Funeral services were held on May 11, 2019 at Greater St. Stephen A.M.E. Church, Rev. Dr. Carl Anderson, pastor. The eulogy was delivered by Rev. Dr. Norvell Goff, Sr., her cousin and Edisto District Presiding Elder.

Mrs. Lawyer was born on January 1, 1942 in Georgetown, SC, to Mr. Frank White, Sr. and Mrs. Martha "Hester" Manigault White. She attended elementary school and Howard High School in Georgetown. For thirty years of exemplary service, until she retired in 1998, Evelena was employed with New York Bell Telephone Company (Verizon) while residing in Brooklyn, New York, and later, Wal-Mart of Georgetown, until retiring in 2016. In 1964, she was united in marriage to Mr. Mason "Jackie" Lawyer (now deceased).

Surviving are her children, Renaldo Dwayne Barber (Shelia), Virginia Beach, VA, Darrin Darnell Lawyer, Georgetown, SC and Collette Lawyer Williams (Gerald) of Richmond, VA; her sisters, Earnestine White Ballard and Alma White, both of Georgetown, SC. Funeral services entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
