Ernest Langley Obituary

Ernest Langley, 78, died April 16, 2018 in Hemingway, SC. Funeral services were held on April 20, 2018 at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, conducted by Reverend Levi Washington, pastor.

Mr. Langley was born on February 23, 1940, a son of Mr. Jim Silas Langley and Mrs. Margie Ford Langley, in Hemingway, SC. At an early age, he joined Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from Choppee High School in 1959, and continued his education at Denmark Area Trade, Orangeburg, SC, where he received his credentials in masonry and barbering. After graduating, Mr. Langley was drafted into the United States Army. In 1963 he married Mary Gabriel. Upon completing his tour of duty, he received an honorable discharge in 1969. Later in life, he was united with Debra C. Scarboro. From this union two children were born. He held a love for cars and collecting antiques.

Surviving are his children, Earnestine Yvette Langley, and Ernest Terrell Langley, Jr., both of Brooklyn, NY; one step-daughter, Delores Yvonne Garrison, Columbia, SC; six grandchildren; his siblings, Eddie Langley, Peter Langley, Creola Williams, Middletown, CT, Margie Vernon, Hemingway, SC, Anna Langley, Columbia, SC, Lillie Glover, Alexandria, VA, Virginia Langley, Velma Langley, Hemingway, SC; Funeral services entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
