Dexter Floyd Obituary
A Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Father Michel Bineen Mukad, will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in St. Mary's Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church. Entombment with military honors, directed by Graham funeral home, will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects privately at Graham Funeral Home between the hours of 9-5 Friday November 20, 2020 and again from 9-5 Monday November 23, 2020.
Born in Andrews, SC August 20, 1936, he was a son of the late Dexter Owens Floyd, Sr. and the late Ruth Benton Floyd. Mr. Floyd was a United States Marine and served three tours of duty during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the military, he worked for Square D Electrical Manufacturing, where he retired as foreman. Mr. Floyd was a member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus, where he received his Cloak of Honor. In his leisure, Mr. Floyd enjoyed spending time with friends and family on his boat.
Surviving are three children, Maria Floyd Lee and her husband Stephen, Dexter Owens Floyd, III and his wife Nancy, and Loredana Floyd Walker and her husband Ken, all of Georgetown; seven grandchildren, Jake Lee, Michael Lee, Shannon Lee, Cody Floyd, Maya Floyd, Brandon Walker, and Lydia Walker; four greatgrandchildren, Luisa Lee, Khloe Lee, Haylee Holifield, and Jordan Holifield; a sister, Jeanette Gamble; a brother, Homer Floyd; his special companion Frances "Fran" Muldoon, and his precious dog, Lu.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Luisa Floyd.
