Derrick Avant Obituary
Born on April 12, 2009, in Georgetown, he was the son of Derrick Michael Avant, Sr. and the late Erica Wilder Avant. Michael was a first grader at Andrews Elementary. He enjoyed doing things that boys do that included hunting, fishing, riding four-wheelers and playing video games.
Survivors include his father of Georgetown; paternal grandparents, Michael Levurn Avant (Jennifer) of Georgetown and Linda Bright Smith (Kenneth) of Creston, NC; maternal grandmother, Terry Sanderson of Andrews; paternal great-grandparents Walker Levurn Avant and Ann Smyrl Avant of Georgetown and Gracie Smith of Whiteville, NC; maternal great-grandmother, Barbara Sanderson of Andrews; one uncle, William Eugene Wilder of Little River; three aunts, Tiffany Avant Gaskins (Johnny) of Johnsonville, Jessica Wilder of Georgetown and Tina Morris of Myrtle Beach; and a numerous cousins and other special family members.
He was preceded in death by his paternal great grandparents, Lois Hardin and Kenneth Smith; paternal grandfather, Herbert Wilder; paternal great grandparents, Richard Sanderson, Williams James Wilder, Jr. and Olna Ogburn Wilder
A memorial service was held at 11 AM Tuesday October 6, 2015 at First Baptist Church. Dr. Ted Sherrill officiated.
The family received friends from 10 AM - 11 AM Tuesday at First Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
