Dennis Recker Obituary

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dennis D. Recker, 81, of Bluffton, SC, on September 12, 2025. Dennis is survived by his wife of 25 years, Harriett; three daughters, Denise (Ken), Melisa (Jack), and Sara (Greg); and six grandchildren: Nicholas (Caroline), Kailyn, Bret, Megan, Emily, and Luke. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Frank Recker, his parents, Bill and Ferne Recker, and his two brothers, Jim & Tom, and sister, Mary Jayne. Born on November 1, 1942, in Buffalo Center, Iowa, Dennis often spoke fondly of his small-town roots and cherished the memories of growing up there. He loved sharing stories from his childhood, frequently mentioning his lifelong friend, Leroy Weaver. These experiences and friendships helped shape him into the man he became. Dennis was drafted into the Army from 1961 to 1965, during which time he participated in classified experiments at the Edgewood Chemical and Biological Center. Dennis married in 1966 and soon after began his studies at Purdue University, balancing his education with the births of his daughters. He graduated in 1972, the same year his son was born. His youngest daughter was born five years later, completing the family. After graduating from Purdue University, Dennis joined Ford Tractor Operations in 1972 and made a lasting impact in the industry. Over the years, Dennis held key roles at New Holland, including Branch Sales Manager in Atlanta and Minneapolis, Government and Fleet National Account Manager, Director of Distribution in London, Southeast Regional Sales Director, and ultimately Vice President of New Holland Ag. He retired in 2006. Dennis was known for his sharp mind, relentless drive and sincere humility. He was a dedicated husband, a proud father, and a beloved grandfather. Dennis loved nothing more than spending time on the golf course, especially when his grandson and wife visited from Atlanta. Over the years, he made many close friends, both through his career and in Bluffton, where he lived for many years. He truly cherished these friendships and often spoke about how much they meant to him. In his passing, we are left with profound shock, love, and an overwhelming sense of loss. Taken from us in a way we never could have imagined, we find comfort in the many cherished moments. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. In keeping with the family's wishes, no memorial service will be held. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all who reached out with love and support during this difficult time. Your kindness has been a great comfort as they grieve and honor Dennis's memory.

Yesterday

I was shocked to learn of Dennis“ passing. We would speak on a regular basis and retell old stories..and oh the stories! I will miss our conversations. So many good memories of Dennis, especially the early years of forming the New Holland, Pa branch office and the numerous road trips and meetings. His straightforwardness, common sense and suffer no fools approach are traits I try to carry on today. Dennis was a truly unique person that will leave a strong legacy for many of us. Rest in peace friend., Bob
