Cleo Smith Obituary

Cleo Stafford Smith died on December 26, 2019 at Arbor Landing Nursing Center, Pawleys Island, SC. Funeral services were held on December 31, 2019 at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Rev. Kelly Spann II, pastor.

Mrs. Smith was born on January 6, 1938, to the marital union of Mr. Thomas Stafford and Mrs. Bessie Bryant Stafford in Georgetown, SC. In early youth, Cleo was educated in the public schools of Georgetown County. Upon graduating, she relocated to Boston, MA, and worked with Sears and Roebucks Corp. Mrs. Smith later gained employment with AVX Corporation, Myrtle Beach, SC. Upon changing her profession, she began working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with In-Care Corp., until retiring. In 1975, Cleo was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. James Edward Smith, Sr. She was a faithful member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church and community, as a member of The Sampit Community Watch Group.

Surviving are her children, Veronica Gasque and Jerome Rogers, both of Georgetown, SC, James Smith, Columbia, SC, and Linda Smith of Germany; her siblings, Vernell Waye, Jimmy Stafford, and Edison Stafford, all of Georgetown, SC, Randolph Stafford, and Joseph Stafford, both of Boston, MA. Funeral services entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
