Claire Parker Obituary

Claire DeVaux "Doadie" Evans Parker Claire was preceded in death by her parents D.D. and Claire (Finklea) Evans, and uncle and aunt C.B. and Eulalia Humphries. She is survived by her siblings, Dr. Samuel D. Evans (Sally) and Ann Tatham (Jack, deceased); her children and their spouses, C.B. Johnson (Jennifer) and Claire Bennett (Casey); her grandchildren Charlie, Caleb, Millie, Oran, Ava, and Becca. Born in Florence, SC, and raised in Pamplico, SC, she possessed a lifelong passion for music, and graduated from Columbia College in 1968 with a Bachelor's degree in Music, and went on to earn a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education and Development from the University of South Carolina. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Columbia, Florence, and Beaufort, SC until her retirement. An active member of the St. Helena's Anglican Church, she regularly sang in the choir, played handbells, and occasionally played the organ there as well. She also deeply enjoyed belonging to the Beaufort, SC Clover Club, and Colonial Dames Society of SC. More than anything, she loved being "Mimi" to her six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at St. Helena's Anglican Church (504 Church Street, Beaufort, SC) on December 19th, 2025 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Agape Hospice (https://sc.agapecaregroup.com/) or the Spastic Paraplegia Foundation (https://sp-foundation.org).
