Cindy Petry Obituary

Cindy D. Petry, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 23, 2025 at her residence.
Born in High Point, North Carolina, Cindy is a daughter of the late Durant and Patsy Whaley.
Cindy had a big personality and loved being with her family, friends and her dog, Bailey. She
worked as an interior designer for many years. She loved being outside whether she was at the
beach or by a pool. Cindy was short in stature but strong and determined, facing every battle
she entered with the spirit of a warrior. A cancer survivor, Cindy faced life's challenges with
extraordinary strength and grace, qualities that defined her and inspired all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her beloved nephew Wesley Powell.
Cindy leaves behind her son, Matthew Desrosiers, and his wife, Brentley, along with their
children, Gavin and Sutton, who brought her immense joy and pride. Cindy is also survived by
her devoted sisters, Penny and Paige Whaley. She will be remembered with love by her
cherished nieces and nephews: Victoria (Raymond) and Madison Harden, Andrew, Wesley and
Ash Powell, Jason Rodriguez, Jessica and Julia Petry, Morgan and Samantha Petry and
Richard and Kyle Petry, as well as many cousins and extended family whom she shared fond
memories with. Cindy's warmth, humor and loyalty also touched the lives of countless wonderful
friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Goldfinch Funeral
Home, Beach Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, June 27,
2025 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or All 4 Paws in Pawleys
Island, SC.
