Tommy Mayer was a good man. When I was young, with nothing but enthusiasm to recommend me, Tommy took a leap of faith and helped me get hired by the Chamber Of Commerce, beginning my career. His kindness, sense of humor and selfless love of Georgetown County and its people will remain in the memory and heart of all who knew him as long as we live. My sympathies and prayers are with his family today.

Our hearts go out to the Mayer family. Tommy had such a great, easy going way about him. He was a good comfort, during our own times, of loss and grief, over the many years. It was kind of like, Bobby played straight man and Tommy was the perfect parterner, making a great team, back then. Not to forget Mr. Mac...it was just perfect. Always knew we could count on those guys to take care of our families, during our toughest times. He was a blessing to so many, because of his genuinely kind nature.

So sorry to hear about Tommy I've known him as long as I've lived in Georgetown, (1960) We shared many laughs whenever he came in my store over the years. One of our favorite tricks was to have him measure up any new and gullible young employees. I'll miss him. Bill Oberst The Radio Shack .

So sorry to learn of Tommy's passing. We were great friends in high school and although I left Georgetown after college we stayed in touch over the years. I last saw him at the Winyah High Class of 61 reunion this past summer and we caught up on old times. I will miss not seeing him on my return visits.
