Charles Jeffcoat Obituary

Charles Victor Jeffcoat, 80, husband of Wanda Beard Jeffcoat, of Port Royal, SC, died Tuesday, May 13, 2025 in Coastal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville, SC.
Charles was born on November 5, 1944 in Columbia, SC. He is the son of the late Heber Victory Jeffcoat and Mae Belle Miller Jeffcoat.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Wanda; are two sons, Jason and Mark; one daughter, Kelly (Bob); one brother, Johnny (Gail); two brothers-in-law, Gary (Diane) and James (April); two nieces, Kimberly (Chip) and Lauryn; four nephews, Brian (Leo), Michael (Kim), Kyle (Sarah), and Landon; and a number of great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jerry and a sister-in-law, Patricia.
Charles was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War, who served three tours in Nha Trang. He was also a Master Mason, Boyleston Lodge No. 123, Irmo, SC.
Charles was a land developer and real estate broker for over 50 years in the Columbia area. During that time he also had an eclectic collection of careers ranging from nightclub owner, motel owner, owner/operator at a convenience store and a liquor store. He was also the original Junk Man Joe. He visited the Lowcountry many times and ultimately retired to Beaufort in 2006.
Charles was an avid fan of the University of South Carolina Lady Gamecocks Basketball, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and was a late in life convert to the Clemson Tigers.
Charles and his wife of nearly 40 years, Wanda, loved music and attended many concerts, across all genres. They enjoyed "Deck Duty" at their Lake Murray home on Friday nights, playing music and dancing the night away. They loved being out on the water; fishing, and simply relishing in the serenity of it. Charles and "Wannie" (his OAO - one and only) also enjoyed antiquing together, which led to the idea of Junk Man Joe, "if it must go, call Joe". If you'd like to read more about Joe please read this article from the Island Packet, https://www.islandpacket.com/living/article33551367.html.
Charles was a master storyteller and could regale an audience for hours. He loved to visit museums and complete crossword puzzles with his daughter, Kelly. He enjoyed fishing and arrowhead hunting with his son, Jason. He and his son, Mark, were fond of going for long drives and just discussing life and future goals.
Charles has been described by his nieces and nephews as a fine Southern gentleman and generationally loved. He found pleasure in the simple things and being surrounded by the people he cherished. He was a faithful man who loved the Lord. He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Chapin.
Charles had an immense love of animals and his two fur babies, Dobie & Nekot, were adopted from the Beaufort County Animal Shelter. Because of this, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Beaufort County Animal Shelter Support Fund, PO Box 23019, Hilton Head Island, SC, 29925, or online at https://lowcountry.fcsuite.com.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
