Bruce Canady Obituary

Bruce Canady, 53, son of Louise and the late Harry Canady passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Conway Manor in Conway.

Bruce was born in Andrews, March 23, 1965. He was an insulator that worked at Savanah River Plant in Augusta, GA at one time.

Bruce was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Andrews, where he served as a Deacon. He refurbished many chairs and furniture and helped build the church Social Hall. Mr. Canady was a member of Pine Crest Baptist Church; he so kindly donated the money for the replacement of the windows in the Sunday school class rooms and the bathrooms. He was an Assistant Director of the Sunday School Classes and also sung in the Choir. Bruce knew the structure of that church so well that he would be called upon to help fix any problems.

Bruce's interest was history. He loved history especially about South Carolina. He loved to collect rare coins and civil war memorabilia. He was also the biggest fan of the Carolina Gamecocks.

Surviving are: his mother Louise Canady of Andrews; one sister Harriet Mercer (Dave) of Conway; a son, Tyler Canady of Andrews; a daughter, Taylor Canady of NC; a niece, Valerie Mims (Chad); a great-nephew, Brayden Mims of Murrells Inlet; and two nephews, Lance Merce and Travis Mercer, both of Conway.

Funeral services will be two o'clock Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Pine Crest Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Mike Mills and Rev. Jack Mobley. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday in the church sanctuary from one until two.

In addition, Bruce and the family want to thank Mrs. Doiley Pitts, Debre Wright, and Tommy Barrineau for always standing by Bruce. Much Love from the family.
