"Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me" – John 14-1
Beverly was born in New York City to her parents Samuel Campbell and the late Frances Lawyer Singleton on November 30, 1961.
Beverly attended grade school in Manhattan, New York. At the tender age of twelve, Beverly's family migrated to Hilton Head Island, SC, where she attended high school and later, she graduated from H.E. McCracken High School. Beverly earned her associate degree in Fashion Merchandising from the College of Columbia Fashion Merchandising in Columbia, SC. In her early years, Beverly was known as a prolific seamstress, who love to sew beautiful things for her family and friends.
For over twenty years, Beverly worked on Spring Island, SC as a dining room supervisor and manager for two of their private restaurants, The Golf House and The River House. Beverly was considered a joyous island "Icon" by many who live, work and visited Spring Island.
Embodying the scripture Matthew 25:40, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me," Beverly gave much of herself to others and her community. She worked with the Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center's home share program to help the least amongst us to regain their independence and actively transition back into our community. In addition, Beverly worked alongside the Community of St. Joseph in Savannah, GA, helping over 4,200 homeless individuals in Savannah as well as her local communities in Beaufort County, SC.
She believed deeply in the words of Isaiah: "If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday." – Isaiah 58:10
Beverly was a true pillar of her community. She offered help to anyone in need and kept her door open to those seeking support. Her compassion extended especially to patients from the local Mental Health Center. Many of these individuals had nowhere else to go and required extra care to develop the life skills necessary for independent living. Beverly welcomed them into her home, providing a stable, nurturing environment over many years.
She embraced this role selflessly and consistently, always willing to share what she had. Despite concerns from family and friends-who worried about her safety as a single woman living with individuals facing mental health challenges-Beverly never wavered. She believed deeply that this was her calling, ordained by God, and she fulfilled it with courage and unwavering faith. Like a good soldier, she followed the path God set before her, trusting fully in His protection. Beverly lived by the belief that when we obey God's word, we are always covered-and that's exactly who she was.
Beverly's life was a living testimony to God's love and grace. Beverly attended the Grays Hill Full Gospel Deliverance Church in Beaufort, South Carolina, where she served as the beloved Missionary of the Jamaica Outreach Ministry under the spiritual leadership and guidance of Pastor Norman and First Lady Jossie Jenkins.
Beverly's legacy is one of generosity, compassion, and faithfulness. Beverly diligently devoted her days to collecting clothing, shoes, toiletries, school supplies and non-perishable food products for her Jamaica Outreach Ministry Mission. She was known throughout the Jamaican communities she served as a beacon of light, a woman who lived out the words of Jesus: "Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done." – Proverbs 19:17
Through her mission, Beverly touched countless lives. Whether she was organizing shipments of food and clothing, kneeling in prayer with a family in need, or simply offering a smile and a kind word, she carried the presence of Christ wherever she went. Her work reflected the very heart of her favorite scripture: "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." – Matthew 5:16
Though she bore no children of her own, Beverly was a spiritual mother to many, comforting, teaching, and encouraging them with her wisdom and unwavering faith. Beverly was also incredibly thoughtful. Whether traveling near or far, she always brought extra luggage-filled not with her own things, but with gifts for family, friends, and those she served through her mission. Even in times of illness, she never stopped giving, always finding creative ways to uplift others and further her cause. What a beautiful testimony Beverly leaves behind. Her life was one of purpose, compassion, and unwavering faith.
