Betty was an active member of the women's auxiliary, working on the committee to establish MMAEs Inn, a temporary home for relatives of Charlotte hospital patients. She was a long-time member of Saint John's Baptist Church, eventually becoming a member at First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. After retiring with her husband to the mountains and the beach in 1998, they moved to Southminster Retirement Community in Charlotte in 2018.

Betty is survived by her husband, William R. Griffin, Jr., M.D.; her son, Jon Kevin Griffin and his wife Kathryn; grandsons, Jack, Henry and George. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, William R. Griffin III.

My heart is heavy with knowing this angel is looking at us. What a fun loving friend that always had a smile and laughter. Betty loved others and knew her direction in life. I will always admire her courage to make the best of life and love the ones around her the most. Michelle Myers
