Aaron Gifford Obituary

Aaron Gifford 63, native of Beaufort, SC, died April 23, 2025, in California. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 7, 2025 in Bob's Field O'Rest section of Sixteen Gates Cemetery, Boundary Street, Beaufort. Born and raised in Beaufort, Aaron was the beloved son of Isalene Gifford and the devoted younger brother of June Gifford, both of whom preceded him in death. He attended Beaufort's public schools and was a proud member of Beaufort High School's Class of 1980. After graduation, Aaron enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served his country until 1984. A year later, he began what would become a nearly 40-year career with the United States Postal Service. As a letter carrier, Aaron was known for his exceptional customer service-so much so that customers called the post office to ask about him when he was absent. He brought that same care and energy into his work as a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor. Whether leading morning stretches with coworkers or gifting personalized workout plans and equipment to friends, Aaron found joy in helping others move and feel their best. His cardio kickboxing classes were especially beloved; students have been known to switch gyms in order to retain him as an instructor. That's because, in everything he did, Aaron made people feel seen and valued. This gift for connection stemmed from Aaron's deep commitment to serving others-a value instilled in him by his mother early in life. He volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters, mentoring youth with compassion and care. As a Union Steward for the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 1100, he tirelessly advocated for the rights and well-being of his fellow postal workers. To many, he was more than a friend-he was a brother, mentor, uncle, and father figure, always ready to offer support, guidance, or simply a listening ear. A lifelong learner, Aaron embraced personal growth and kept a positive outlook on life. He was an avid reader who loved sharing knowledge and insight with those around him. A self-taught musician, he played bass and had most recently taken up the harmonica. Proud of his heritage, he encouraged others to embrace and celebrate their own. His warmth, generosity, and thoughtful presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Aaron's legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and service. He is survived by loving family members, friends, and coworkers-all of whom will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude.
