The Lord Jesus Christ called Julia Wynelle Aikens Reynolds to her eternal home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. The eldest of five children, Wynelle was born in Atlanta, GA, to Charles Harold, Jr., and Myra Boyer Aikens on September 12, 1939. Wynelle met the love of her life, Paul David "Dave" Reynolds, while attending Georgia State University. Dave and Wynelle were married on November 4, 1960. Wynelle spent the next 41 years as the devoted wife of an active Presbyterian minister and as a homemaker: raising children, providing guidance and love to all her family, and being the steadfast rock that Dave could depend upon. Their ministry began in Georgia and took them to Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Alabama, where Dave retired. For the remaining 20-plus years of their marriage until Dave's passing in 2024, Wynelle shared a quiet life of enjoyed retirement with Dave and spent her time and energy focused on her family. Wynelle was known for her love of her family and her commitment to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a devoted and loving wife and a very affectionate mother and grandmother. She always put the needs and comfort of others above her own and continuously demonstrated her love, affection, and praise to her family. Wynelle loved to read and enjoyed spending much of her time researching both her and Dave's ancestry and their history, as well as connecting with friends and family through Facebook while providing heartfelt and uplifting posts. A passion for travel shared with her husband resulted in several notable trips: the Holy Land, many New England locations (particularly Boston), Nova Scotia, and an extended stay in Scotland during a pastor exchange. A loving wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Wynelle was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Dave; and her sister, Myra Sue Aikens; and is survived by her brothers; Charles Harold Aikens, III (Helen); Larry Gene Aikens, Sr. (Sheila); and Wesley Allen Aikens (Susan); her children, Julia Watson (Ron), Susan Reynolds, Paul D. Reynolds, Jr. (Amy), and Daniel Reynolds; her five grandchildren, Davis Watson, III (Meg), Mary Ruth Harding (Greg), Tripp Reynolds, Samuel Reynolds, and Marina Reynolds; her three great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. A memorial service for Wynelle will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made in Wynelle's memory to either Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, Columbia, SC (www.sapc.net) or
Samaritan's Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org). Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
