William Camlin Obituary

William Roland Camlin, 80, of Columbia, died on Monday, July 21, 2025. Born on January 27, 1945, in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late Grace Taylor Camlin and late William Dowell Camlin. SP5 (T) William Camlin was a proud graduate of Eau Claire High School. He went on to further his education at Francis Marion College and later earned his Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. A dedicated veteran of the United States Army, William served his country honorably for six years, including combat service during the Vietnam War. For his courage and commitment, he was awarded several commendations, including the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, and the Good Conduct Medal. Survivors include his wife, Monika A. Camlin; and two sons, R. Scott Camlin, and Taylor C. Camlin. A committal service will be held at 2 o'clock on August 1, 2025, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family
