Webster Myers Obituary

Webster "Chip" Myers III, 62, of 6312 Pinehill Road, Columbia, SC, passed away on September 14, 2025. Born in New York City, NY, to Webster Myers Jr. and Marilyn Craft Myers, Chip was the first of four children: Philip E. Myers, Paula Myers-Burns, and Elizabeth Myers. Chip's family settled down in Columbia, SC, and he has spent most of his lifetime in various regions around South Carolina, including Columbia, Myrtle Beach, and Edisto Island. Chip studied and was trained in kung fu and karate. He enjoyed jazz, blues, and classic rock. He was also a big fan of fantasy novels including the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and Jack Vance. Chip is a self-described expressionist artist who Zoltan Hegyes proclaimed a neo-expressionist. He has had several gallery showings, including the Myung Sook Lee and Agora Galleries in New York City and the Pinckney Simons Gallery in Columbia, SC. He is listed in Who's Who in the Arts by Marquis Books. He is survived by his sisters, Paula and Elizabeth, as well as his niece, Ashley E.M. Burns and nephew, Liam M. Burns. He will be missed dearly.

I met Chip many years back when we both displayed art at the Imaculate Consumption. I bought a painting from him and another later. I enjoyed his explanation of his art and I continue to enjoy his work. My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
