Walter Bouknight Obituary

Walter Lloyd Bouknight, 81, of Irmo died peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Lloyd was born to the late Walter Livingston and the late Julia Ballentine Bouknight on November 13, 1943 in Ballentine SC. He was a member of Salem UMC in Irmo and also attended Columbia First Nazarene. Lloyd graduated from Irmo High School in 1962 and was a member of the National Guard Reserves. He was employed by SCE&G/SCANA as a welder until retiring in 1995 when he began his new career as a pipeline inspector. As an avid deer hunter and fisherman, Lloyd loved to entertain family and friends with his exploits of tracking deer through the woods and catching fish in many of South Carolina's lakes and rivers with Lake Murray being his favorite spot. Although claiming he never wanted to be a farmer, Lloyd loved to watch things grow and had a yearly garden raising a variety of vegetables which were shared with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 29 years, Norma Ruth Shealy Bouknight, his second wife of 17 years Florence Holcombe Bouknight, his sister Edith P Bouknight, and both parents. Survivors include his daughters Cynthia B Griffin (Tony) of Chapin and Janet B Bargar (Tim) of Alachua, FL. Stepdaughters Rhonda Holcombe and Mary Pacilli both of Aiken SC. Beloved grandchildren, whom he was so proud of, James Griffin, Julia McKellar (Reid), Zachary Bargar, Alissa Pacilli, and Christina Pacilli. His sisters Mattie Jane Lindler (Bryan Carol), Judy McHugh, Laurel June Estes (Billy), and brothers Howard Bouknight, and Tommy Bouknight. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice nurse and the dedicated ICU doctors and nurses at Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge Hospital for their compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Newberry Boys Farm, 6655 SC-34, Newberry SC 29108 or a charity of your choice.
