Tommie Jenkins Obituary

Mr. Tommie Lee Jenkins was born on February 18, 1947, in Columbia, SC to the late
Dora Casey and Jesse Jenkins. He was educated in the Richland County District One
school system and was a graduate of C.A. Johnson High School class of 1966.
He was married to the late Constance Gilmore Jenkins with whom he shared over 58
years of marriage. They shared a magnificent union that brought about three glorious
children, Jacqueline, Tommie, Jr., and Jocelyn. Tommie was primarily employed as a
mechanic with much of his tenure as an employee at Dreher Packing Company.
Although he had stints working in other areas of employment, working around cars was
his best-loved profession. During his lifetime Tommie was also showered with love,
laughter, and eternal memories from family and friends that he will be fondly
remembered by and deeply missed.
Tommie was preceded in death by his parents and wife as well as a brother, Mr. Harold
Raymond Casey; a sister, Mrs. Helen J. Reeves; son-in-law, Darryl L. Singleton, and a
daughter-in-law, Joyce G. Jenkins.
He is survived by his daughters, Jacqueline V. Singleton and Jocelyn Jenkins; one son,
Tommie L. Jenkins, Jr; one sister Sandra E. Jenkins; all of Columbia, SC;one sister-in-
law, Mrs. Roberta Casey of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren Jaleza Singleton and
Darryl L. Singleton, Jr. as well as three great-grandchildren; and host of other loving
relatives and friends.
