Scott Laughead Obituary

Scott Hamilton Laughead, 67, of Columbia, died on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Born on September 23, 1958, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late J.C. Roy Laughead and Mary Rogers Laughead. Mr. Laughead honorably served his country in the US Coast Guard Reserves. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for over two decades in the golf course industry. He was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed Pittsburgh Steelers football and USC athletics. Mr. Laughead resided in The Woodlands Golf & Country Club Community, where he worked on the golf course and played an active role in the community HOA. He enjoyed music, trivia, and socializing with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Barrett Laughead; sons, Aaron Scott Laughead of Greer, SC and Eric Glenn Laughead of West Ashley, SC; sister, Kandi Shealy (Andy) of Little Mountain, SC; brothers-in-law, Ed Barrett (Maria) of South Abington, PA, Tony Barrett (Kathie) of Scott Township, PA, and Jim Barrett (Sharon) of Newton, MA, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews and other extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dave Laughead and Kurtis Laughead, and his in-laws, Ed and Marie Cacciamani Barrett.
The visitation will be held from 5 until 7 o'clock Sunday, October 26th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC.
The funeral service for Mr. Laughead will be held at 10 o'clock, Monday, October 27th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel. The burial will follow at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, 11020 Two Notch Road, Elgin, SC 29045.
Immediately after the burial the family will host a reception at The Woodlands Golf & Country Club, 100 Norse Way, Columbia, SC 29229.
