Sammy Allen Obituary

Sammy James Allen, affectionately known as "Brother," was born on July 1, 1941, in Fairfield, South Carolina. He was the second child of James and Ida Allen. Sammy passed away on May 30, 2025. He was married to Oneida Joann Allen for 57 years. Sammy was a devoted member of Rock Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee. Sammy obtained his high school diploma from Bethel High School. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1963 and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1965. After his military service, he enrolled in barber school and received a certificate of barbering. Sammy was a dedicated employee of Fort Jackson - Moncrief Army Hospital as a Medical Supply Technician for 30 years. After retirement, he provided security for Harsco Rail Company for an additional 12 years. Sammy enjoyed fishing on his boat with friends and family. His passion for vehicles led him to attend car racing events in Blaney, South Carolina, ride motorcycles, collect cars, and become a member of the car club - Vettes are Forever. Throughout his life, Sammy cherished spending time on the beaches of South Carolina and participating in numerous family gatherings. Sammy was known for his friendly demeanor and jovial spirit, always ready to share a joke and bring a smile to others' faces. He had a strong sense of family and believed in dedicating his time and resources to those he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Marcus Allen, siblings Charliebell McClain and Eugene Allen; and a brother in law, Cecil Fogle. The individuals who have cherished the enduring memories of Sammy are his wife, Oneida Allen; his sons, Randy (Elouise) Collier of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Kelvin (Tamara) Collier of Ridgeway, South Carolina; and his sisters, Betty (Leroy) Smith, Gladys Fogle, Brenda Allen, Joyce Allen, and Barbara (Vincent, deceased) Boyd all of South Carolina. Additionally, he has a bonus sister, Mali (Karl) Chisholm, who resides in Columbia, South Carolina. Sammy is also the grandfather of five grandchildren and the great-grandfather of two.
