Paul Hanna Obituary

Paul Richard Hanna, 64, of West Columbia, South Carolina, passed away July 7, 2025. Paul was born on March 11, 1961 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to Joseph Richard Floyd and Katherine Braddon Hanna. A talented athlete, Paul played varsity basketball throughout his years at B.C. High School in West Columbia, South Carolina where he earned recognition for both his academic and athletic achievements. He was a proud attendee of Clemson University and a devoted Tiger fan. Paul was a retail store manager in Columbia, South Carolina for over 30 years before retirement. Customers and colleagues knew him for his dedication, kindness, and sharp wit. Paul was an avid reader, music lover, and craft beer enthusiast. He cherished time spent with friends and family, whether hosting gatherings at Lake Murray or grilling for a crowd. Paul will be remembered for his sense of humor and as a big-hearted, loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Paul is survived by his brothers, Donald Hanna (Karen) of Lexington, South Carolina, Mark Hanna of St. Simons Island, Georgia; nieces, Emily Hanna (Edgar Rodriguez-Diaz) of Washington, D.C., Katherine Povey Hanna of St. Simons Island, Georgia; grandniece, Elizabeth Rodriguez-Hanna of Washington, D.C., and many aunts and cousins in Canada. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Richard "Dick" and Katherine Hanna. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Ontario, Canada. Memorials may be made to Riverbanks Zoo, 500 Wildlife Parkway, Columbia, SC 29210.

I had my first beer with Paul. We shared so many childhood memories. He was a big part of my childhood. We grew up as neighbors and friends for many years. You will be missed my friend. May God bless you Paul.
