Olive Murray Obituary

Olive Mae Scott Murray was born on November 20, 1945, in Eastover, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late Fletcher Scott, Sr. and Emmaline Brew Scott. She transitioned from this earthly life on Sunday, April 27, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Olive affectionately known as "Mae" received her education in the public schools of Richland County, graduating from C. A. Johnson High School in the Class of 1964. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Everette Earl Murray, Sr. who went home to be with the Lord in 2025.
A woman with a strong work ethic, Olive worked as a Food Service Specialist with Richland School District from which she retired after many years of service. She was then employed with Prisma Health Richland Hospital until her heart began to decline.
Olive was family oriented, and loved family gatherings where she would cook the best food, especially her macaroni w/cheese and potato salad. But her cakes, cookies, and pies...they gave her the name "The Cake Lady." You had not had a cake, until you had one cooked by "Mrs. Ollie." She will be remembered as a caring, loving, trustworthy person, never having a bad work to say about anyone, always seeing the positive in everyone. Her care, concern and happiness for others made her an awesome friend, mother, aunt, cousin, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Olive received Christ at an early age. She was baptized by the late Reverend Dr. Roscoe Wilson, Sr. at St. John Baptist Church. She later joined Mr. Pilgrim Baptist Church where she was a part of the Senior Ministry, Sanctuary Choir, Combined Choir, and the Women's Corral.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son Everette E. Murray, Jr.
Those who are cherishing fond and precious memories of Olive are her daughter, Gwendolyn (Alpha) Ward; brother, Leon (Christine) Scott; stepsons, Adam (Shondra) Stearns and Timothy Anderson; grandsons, Cedric (Breanna) Young, Antwan De'Angelo Murray, and Martelle Da'Jon Murray; granddaughter, Takia Olive Adams; great-grands, Layla Danielle Young and Keira Eren Young; brothers-in-law, Frances, Victor and Ricky Murray; sisters-in-law, Lillie Scott, Mary Mitchell Roach, Janette C. Scott and Franzell Robinson; sisters for life, Suzette Chalmers Wilson and Charlene Lowman; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
