Ocean Anderson Obituary
Ocean Sunday Anderson was born on July 30, 2023, the beloved daughter of Carlos and Nina M. Anderson in Columbia, SC. In her short but beautiful life, Ocean was a sweet and spirited soul who left an everlasting mark on every heart she touched. She will always be remembered as our smart and silly baby, who was independent from the very start, carrying herself with confidence far beyond her years. She departed this life to be an Angel with the Lord on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
Her name, Ocean, means vast, deep, and full of life, just like the little girl she was. Ocean was feisty and full of personality, never letting just anyone hold her. She danced to the beat of her own drum, always confident in who she was. She was Mommy's best friend, Daddy's princess, and at home, her siblings' "boss baby." In her brief time here, she traveled across oceans with her family and found joy in simple adventures, like bike rides where she rode in the carriage behind her parents, smiling as the wind kissed her cheeks. Her spirit was as wide and beautiful as her name, reminding us that even the smallest lives can hold infinite beauty.
Ocean was a world traveler before she could even tie her shoes, journeying with Mommy and Daddy across seas and into the hearts of all she met. She visited the Bahamas, Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic, living up to her name in every way. Whether splashing in water or taking in the ocean views, the water was her happy place.
Though the youngest of her siblings, Ocean proudly wore the title of "Big Auntie" to her niece, Lei'Loni, and nephew, Legend. Many days they enjoyed playing outside or in the house watching Bluey. She adored her role in their lives, and they adored her in return.
Ocean leaves to cherish her memory her loving parents, Carlos & Nina Anderson; her loving siblings, Jasmine Anderson, Randell Pope, Jr., Karma Pope, and Carlos Anderson Jr.; niece, Lei'Loni Anderson-Bates; nephew, Legend Anderson-Bates; grandmother, Theresa Manigault; grandfather, O.C. King; four uncles, Christopher Anderson, O.C. Anderson, Ron (Carolyn) Marino, Donnie Hutchinson; aunt, Candace Weaver; godmothers, LaTisha (Brandon) Cunningham and Neechelle Blanding; godfather, Hiram Texidor; and a host of other devoted family, friends, and loved ones whose lives she touched in her brief but unforgettable time on earth.
Ocean's life, though short, was rich in love, adventure, and joy. She taught us lessons that will last a lifetime. She was feisty yet undeniably lovable, standing firm in who she was-when Ocean said "no," she meant it. She reminded us that love is not just in the big gestures, but in the everyday moments we share. Ocean taught us to fear absolutely nothing. Through her short but meaningful life, she showed us the value of loving one another and that time is precious-never promised, and always worth cherishing.
