Mason Williams Obituary

Mason Keith Williams, wife of Bruce Thomas Williams, died on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Born in Greenville, SC on October 27, 1957, she was the daughter of Thomas Maddox and Rosa Anderson Keith. She was baptized and a communicant member at Fourth Presbyterian Church. After attending Greenville public schools, she graduated in 1976 from J.L. Mann High School. She attended Converse College and graduated in 1980 from the University of South Carolina with a BS degree in Business Administration. She and Bruce were happily married at Fourth Presbyterian Church on August 9, 1980, eventually settling in Columbia, SC. They welcomed their first child, Thomas Keith, in 1985 and their daughter, Melissa Anderson, in 1988. It was with great joy that she took on the role of raising and nurturing their children as well as maintaining their home. Over the years, she worked as a legal secretary, a real estate appraiser and volunteered for numerous community and social organizations. In addition, she adored being with her grandchildren, traveling with Bruce and gardening. Mason was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC. She loved helping teach children in Sunday school, was an active member of the Women of the Church (Circle 2) and served on the Diaconate. Through the faithful teaching of the Word of God from pastors and teachers in this dear church, she came to truly grasp the gospel of Jesus Christ which gratefully deepened her walk with God. Proverbs 3:5-6 became her favorite Bible verse "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your path." In 2019, they moved to Greenville to be closer to their son and his family. They added a whole new church family as they joined Downtown Presbyterian Church and enjoyed many times of fellowship with new friends. Mason is survived by her loving husband, Bruce Thomas Williams, son Thomas Keith Williams (daughter-in law Cady), daughter Melissa Anderson Williams Revercomb (son-in-law Chapman) of Richmond, VA, sisters Rosa Keith Champney of Wilmington, N.C., and Elise Keith Heape (brother-in-law Steve) of Charleston, S.C., sister-in-law, Janet S. Keith of Greenville, S.C., brother-in-law, Ralph Cureton Williams of Columbia, SC, and her beloved grandchildren, Macie and Alice Williams of Greenville, SC, and RC and Andie Revercomb of Richmond, VA. In addition, she is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and longtime dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Thomas Maddox Keith, Jr., mother-in-law Jane Cureton Williams and brother-in-law, David Cameron Champney, Jr. Family and friends are invited to the celebration of Mason's life at First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, SC on Monday, August 18th, at 10:30 o'clock. A reception will immediately follow in Jackson Hall of the church. Previous to the celebration, a private burial will be held in the First Presbyterian Churchyard Memorial Garden. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider memorials to First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion Street, Columbia SC 29201 or Downtown Presbyterian Church, 435 W. Washington Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
