Mark Rushton Obituary
Mark Avery Rushton, 65, of Little Mountain, SC, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, surrounded by family and love. A man of quiet strength, generosity, and boundless devotion, Mark left behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on September 2, 1959, Mark was a man of many talents and even more heart. He was a provider, a creator, and an artist in many forms - from welding and woodworking to cast-iron cooking and homemade sourdough. He was a certified welder, skilled barber and instructor, general contractor, and lifelong entrepreneur. A true craftsman and self-starter, Mark could build, fix, or create just about anything - and always with intention and pride. From haircuts to home repairs, there was no job beneath him and no skill he wouldn't master to support his family and community.
Mark was also an artist in every sense. He was a hair model in his younger years and a creative soul throughout his life. He had a deep love for motorcycles, old tractors, Dodge trucks, and animals. He cooked with cast-iron skillets, baked sourdough from scratch, made his own vanilla bean extract, and played guitar while singing from the heart. He even shared his humor and spirit through the occasional TikTok - proof that his joy for life knew no bounds.
His life was not without challenges, but Mark met them with unmatched courage. He bravely battled and beat cancer and faced a kidney transplant with strength and grace. Through it all, he remained grounded in what mattered most - his faith in family, his love for simple pleasures, and his commitment to showing up for others.
He was a provider in every sense of the word - never hesitating to give, help, or sacrifice. If he had it, and you needed it, it was yours - even if it was all he had. He lived with open hands and a full heart. Mark's life was a testament to love, resilience, and quiet strength. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Stacy Rushton; mother, Arlene Hinson, his daughter, Mariah Matthews, and her husband, Earl Matthews; grandchildren, Chase Matthews, Tyler Martin (Madi), and Haidyn Matthews; brothers, Anthony (Laura) Rushton and Jimmy (Sara) Rushton.
A celebration of life for Mark Avery Rushton will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Nona & Pops, 112 Park Street NW, Wagener, SC 29164, where friends and family are invited to gather, remember, and honor the man who meant so much to so many.
