Maria Bertsch Obituary

Maria Zinna Bertsch, 78, of Lexington, South Carolina passed away peacefully June 10, 2025, at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, South Carolina. She was born on January 21, 1947, in Port Jefferson, New York to Michael and Lois (Garner) Zinna. Maria graduated from Earl L. Vandermeulen High School and would eventually retire from the University of South Carolina. Maria is survived by her daughter, Melissa Netherton (Chris) of Pelion and her granddaughter, Savannah Chappell of West Columbia, South Carolina. Maria was preceded in death by her Mother (Lois G. Zinna), Father (Michael F. Zinna Sr.), and her younger brother (Michael F. Zinna Jr.) Thompson Funeral Home has graciously managed the arrangements. Maria will be inurned in the mausoleum at Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family would like to show their deepest appreciation to Lexington Extended Care as well as Lexington Medical Center for taking exceptionally loving care of Maria. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Lexington Extended Care of Lexington, SC, Lexington Medical Center of West Columbia, SC, or the Alzheimer's
