Margie Lindler Obituary
Margie Cannon Lindler, 87, was born in Newberry, SC, to the late Ralph Leroy Cannon and Maude Jeanette Schumpert Cannon on April 1, 1938. She received her angel wings on April 15, 2025.
After graduation from Chapin High School, Margie went to work at General Electric. This turned out to be her "second home" for 43 years. The years spent at work were at the same place but with 4 different companies, the last being BC Components. The last years with BC Components were very interesting and educational when her group worked to develop a capacitor for implantable heart defibrillators.
Margie was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and was proud to be a great-great-great-great-great granddaughter of Peter Schumpert, one of the founders of the church. She spent a lot of time doing church work starting as a nursery Sunday School teacher for many years, and grades 8 and 9 in later years. She also served on the church council, WELCA, and various other committees of the church. Margie was a long-time member of the WELCA/LCW having served as president and circle leader. She was a member of the Golden Age committee for 30 years serving as Chairman for many of those years. She enjoyed being a member of Primetimers serving as leader for two terms. Margie made many of the church's seasonal banners and Chrismon's. She also volunteered as Den Mother for Cub Scouts, Project Love at Chapin Elementary School, and Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative WIRE.
Margie was the proud mom of sons, Kenneth (Libby) and Aubrey (Lisa). Completing Grand-mommy's family are grandchildren, Kristina (Lee), Cody, Matthew (Kathryn), Jesse (Cheyanne), and great-grandson Tristan; sister, Sadie Benton and brother, Wayne Cannon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Earl, her husband of 55 years, and sister, Evelyn Stoudemire.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at St. Peters Lutheran Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of St. Peters Primetimers.
Interment will be in St Peter Lutheran Church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the committal service.
