Kathryn Marie Anderson Hage Fairbairn Obituary

We are sad to announce the passing of Kathryn Marie Anderson Hage Fairbairn on July 10, 2025, in Lexington, S.C. where she moved to be close to her son Kris E. Hage and daughter-in-law Sharon Denise Duncan Hage and her four grand-children and one great-grandchild. She was 95.
Kathy (to her friends) was born in Leland, Illinois on August 29, 1929. She was married to her first husband, Gene E. Hage (deceased) in 1948 and raised three children; Larry E. Hage (deceased), Becky L. Hage, and Kris E. Hage.
The family moved to Batavia, Illinois where Kathy worked for 25 years at the Batavia Public Schools administrative office. She was the secretary for five successive superintendents.
Kathy married George Fairbairn (deceased) in 1987 and helped raise his daughter Christine Fairbairn McKiness, who married Ken McKiness and they had two children, Kelly and Dustin.
Kathy was active at the Batavia Historical Society, the Friends of the Batavia Library, and the Batavia Women's Club. She was a graduate of Mundelein College and also earned a Naturalist Certificate from the Morton Arboretum. She volunteered for the Forest Preserve District of Kane County and had a backyard full of wildflowers. She also loved bird watching with her friends.
There will be a celebration of life event for her family.
She would be thankful if donations were made to the Nature Conservancy in lieu of flowers.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
