Karen Blackmon Obituary

With deep sorrow, the family of Karen Odom Blackmon announces her peaceful passing on August 20, 2025, at the age of 66. Born in Darlington, SC, and raised in West Columbia, SC, Karen attended Brookland-Cayce High School and made lifelong connections in the community she loved. Karen will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Nikole Martin and Lindsay Snead, and her cherished grandchildren: Kameron Parker, Ashton Trigg, Ayden Trigg, and Brinon Snead. She is also survived by her brother, Johnny (Beverly Odom); her sister, Susan (Mike Catt); her devoted life partner of 20 years, Mark Ring; and many extended family members and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Joyce Odom, and her sisters, Joann McDaniel and Judy Joiner. Karen dedicated her life to being a proud and loving mother to her daughters and "Ma" to her grandchildren. Her most treasured moments were spent with her daughters and grandkids-laughing, loving, and creating memories that will be forever cherished. Her radiant smile could light up any room, and her presence brought joy wherever she went. The spunkiest of her siblings, Karen was full of life, humor, and heart. She carried a deeply compassionate spirit, always willing to help those in need. Her generosity and warmth knew no bounds. Over her 27-year career in the retail industry, Karen was admired for her integrity, tireless work ethic, and unwavering kindness. Her faith in Christ was the foundation of her life, guiding her through every joy and challenge with grace and strength. Karen leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, strength, faith, and compassion. Her spirit will live on in all who knew and loved her. "We loved you first and we love you more, Mom. Always and forever." A Celebration of Life will be held on September 13, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, 3050 Leaphart Road, West Columbia, SC 29169.
