Joyce Blackman Obituary

Joyce Ann Blackman, born May 5, 1957, went home to be with the Lord on August 7, 2025, at the age of 68, after fighting cancer. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Joyce's warmth, kindness, and energetic spirit left an lasting mark on everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Joyce was the wife of John Blackman III. She was mother to Eric Letalien and Heather Costa, and a caring stepmother to John and Edward Blackman. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to Michayla Costa, Sydney Letalien, Ruthie Blackman, and John Blackman, whom she cherished deeply and enjoyed spending time with. Joyce is also survived by her brother, Ted MacDonald; sister-in-law, Shirley MacDonald; sister, Carol MacDonald; and several treasured nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Duncan MacDonald and Doris Hoyle. Joyce took great pride in her work as an EMT for the volunteer EMS in Maine, and as a CNA for many years at Sandy River Nursing home, where her compassion and dedication shone brightly. Her vibrant spirit was evident in her roles as a Girl and Boy Scout troop leaders, cheerleading coach, and PTO volunteer, where she joyfully supported her children and their communities. She also worked at Liberty Tax Service for many years where she enjoyed her coworkers that became friends. Her legacy of love, service, and enthusiasm will live on in the hearts of all she touched. In honor of Joyce's wishes, no formal services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice that supports either cancer research or drug and alcohol treatment in Joyce's memory.
