John Wolfe Obituary

On July 5, 2025, John William Wolfe affectionately known as Billy, Brown, Daddy, Pop, and Uncle Brown, set his sails to heaven at the call of our Lord. He was born on December 22, 1938, to James William Wolfe and Mary Kaigler Wolfe in Sandy Run, South Carolina. He was predeceased by both parents, his loving sister Margaret Taylor (Jesse),, brother Richard Wolfe, and granddaughter Rachael Elizabeth Derrick. Surviving is his loving wife Delores "Ann" Wolfe, sister Carolyn "Tack" Makel (Delbert), sister-in-law Carolyn Wolfe, daughter Sue Ann Derrick (Hal-deceased), sons Robert Wolfe (Deborah), Keith Wolfe (Beth), and Richard "Dick" Wolfe, as well as grandchildren Nicholas Derrick (Robin), Joshua Wolfe (Amanda), Brian Wolfe, Whitney Goodson (Ron), and Ashley Martin (Zack). Surviving great grandchildren include Barry "BJ" Spires, Xander Derrick, Cole Derrick, Ari Goodson, Amelia Ann Wolfe, and Brayden Wolfe. "A ship is safe in harbor, but that's not what ships are for" - William Shedd Billy Wolfe was the captain of his own ship and a man unafraid to set sail for a life filled with love, fun, and a little adventure. He did so in many ways such as truck driving, car and go kart racing and business owner of Wolfe Truck and Trailer Repair. He was a Master Mason and Shriner. These things were a part of the cargo of his life, but the most precious cargo of his heart was his family, who he loved more than anything else in this world. This simple but brilliant, hardworking and loving man leaves behind his sweetheart of almost 70 years Ann Wolfe, who he lovingly called Delores Ann or simply Mama. He adored and was adored by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His favorite days were those spent with his family. His easy grin and sense of humor could light up a room. He was an image bearer who taught through example how to share the love of God, love of family, and love for his fellow man to the world around him. Words cannot express how much he will be missed, and we all will look toward the horizon in hopes that one day we will be reunited with him in heaven. Visitation and Services will be held at Thompson Funeral Home in Lexington on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 followed by interment at Woodridge Cemetery. Visitation: 10:30 am Service: 11:30 am Family will be hosted by Margaret Ann Holt following interment.
