Jeffrey Norris Obituary
Jeffrey Alan Norris, 64, of Columbia, South Carolina, was called home by his Savior on Friday, October 24, 2025.
Jeff lived his life with a full heart. He loved big, gave generously, and made everyone feel like family. He was a devoted husband, father, Papa, and friend whose love knew no limits. His world revolved around his high school sweetheart and wife of forty-five years, Lynda, and together they built a family rooted in faith, lots of laughter, and endless love.
If you knew Jeff, you knew his personality filled every room he entered. He was always ready to lend a hand, share a story or play a practical joke. He was the kind of man who would take up any hobby if it meant time with his family. From hunting trips to spontaneous shopping adventures with his girls. Jeff was happiest simply being where his people were. Family wasn't just part of his life; it was the center of it.
Professionally, Jeff's drive and brilliance were undeniable. A proud graduate of the University of South Carolina, he went on to earn his MBA from Duke University, with additional studies at Harvard, Babson, and MIT. His sharp mind and entrepreneurial spirit took him from small beginnings to national recognition, including Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year. Most recently, as the founder and CEO of Paraclete Energy, Jeff poured his vision into renewable energy innovation - using his God-given creativity to solve tough problems and lead others with integrity and grace. Jeff often reminded those around him that the true purpose of Paraclete was not simply to develop transformative technology, but to live out its founding mission: to bring light to all those who are in darkness. It was this deeper calling that guided his leadership and reflected his unwavering faith.
But behind every success was a humble faith. Jeff lived his life guided by three unshakable principles: honor God, love your family, and leave a legacy of kindness.
He devoted years to serving in the youth ministry at Lexington Baptist Church alongside Lynda, teaching and mentoring high school students - a calling that brought him great joy. His heart for missions took him across the world to India, the Dominican Republic, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan, where he found purpose in helping others and sharing God's light. Before his illness, Jeff participated in worship at Riverland Hills Baptist Church.
Those who loved him best knew the "real" Jeff was the man sitting in his favorite chair with a cup of coffee, laughing with Lynda or bragging about his granddaughters. His life was rich - not because of titles or achievements, but because of the love he gave so freely and the faith he lived so boldly.
Jeff's legacy is one of laughter, faith, and devotion - to God, his family, and his purpose. His love was big, his impact even bigger, and his absence will be felt deeply by all who were blessed to have been loved by him.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Lynda Robinson Norris; his daughter, Ashley Norris Hobbs (Kyle); his son, Justin Norris (Caroline); and his four adored granddaughters - Emma Reese, Arden, Elliotte, and Charlotte - who were the absolute light of his life. He is also survived by his mother, Janet Norris; his sister, Cindy Phillips (Scott); his brother, Mark Norris (Rhonda); and his mother-in-law, Estelle Robinson; and his brother-and sister-in-law, Steve and Candy Robinson. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred "Fred" Alan Norris.
A visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of life service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1st, at Riverland Hills Baptist Church 201 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063.
"Live the legacy, every day."
Those who wish to honor Jeff may make donations to James Island Christian School, supporting the Families Helping Families Scholarship Fund. Jeff deeply valued Christian education and believed in giving more children the opportunity to experience it. His family finds comfort knowing his legacy of faith and generosity will continue to bless others through this cause.
