Jacquelyn Foster Obituary

Jacquelyn Reneé Foster, known lovingly as "Reneé" to all who knew her, passed away peacefully at home on September 16, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on March 23, 1952, to Edward Carlisle Chavis and Rheba Eargle Chavis, Reneé dedicated her professional life to the South Carolina Department of Agriculture, where she worked as a computer programmer and retired from the State of South Carolina. Reneé shared a deep love of travel with her late husband, James Lachlison Foster, exploring destinations across the globe-including some of her favorites: England, Ireland, Italy, France, Russia, China, and the Turks and Caicos. She also looked forward to annual trips to the beach and mountains with family and friends. Together, Reneé and Jim were devoted members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Batesburg-Leesville, SC. She is survived by her daughter, Ashley Nicole Snoddy, and son-in-law, Paul Allan Snoddy; her beloved grandchildren, James Chavis Snoddy and Scarlett Swann Snoddy, who will forever remember their "NeNé" with love and laughter. Reneé will also be deeply missed by her sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Bill Huffstetler, as well as her nieces, nephews, and their families. Reneé was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents Rheba and Ed, her sister Carolyn LaVonne Herring, and her brother Edwin Eargle Chavis. She also leaves behind her cherished cats-Amber, Jezebel, Peter, James, John, and their deceased brother Gabriel, who she believed joyfully greeted her in heaven. A talented and passionate craftswoman, Reneé found joy in sewing, quilting, and crocheting, often gifting her creations to loved ones. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 415 Wilson Street, Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29006. The family will receive visitors in the Parish Hall at 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service in the Church at Noon. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Lexington Medical Center and Encompass Health of Columbia for their compassionate care during Reneé's nal days. In lieu of owers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Reneé's memory.
