Herbert Henderson Obituary

Herbert Newport Henderson, Jr, 60, of Columbia, passed away July 20, 2025. He was a son of Linda Kate Henderson and the late Herbert Newport Henderson. Known to most as Steve or Hen, he was born January 10, 1965, in Atlanta and from St. Mountain, Georgia. He made multiple cities in South Carolina his home since 1990. He worked in multi-skilled fields, but with a profession in Heating and Air from a young age and the Flooring industry that brought him to South Carolina making friends everywhere he went with his smile and sparkling blue eyes. He loved his family to no end and had a soft place in his heart for animals, usually a stray. He is reunited with passed loved ones and his best friend Colby, our 100-pound boxer who thought he was a lap dog and feisty cat Tyger. In addition to his mother, Linda Kate Henderson, survivors include his wife, Alesha D. Henderson; beloved children: daughter, Kayla D. Henderson and son, John Wesley Henderson; siblings, Michelle Hunt (Don), Lisa Henderson, Steven Henderson (Lindsey), Felicia Henderson (Cary), Joshua Henderson and Jeffery Williams. He has several nieces and nephews, Codi Kay Gaines, Ashley Gaines (Erin), Brittany Morris (Justin), Bryant Lee Morris (Elle), Kara Henderson, Bradley Griffith and Mazie Taylor. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Wesley Henderson, Sr; father, Herbert Newport Henderson; and niece, Codi Kay Gaines. A viewing and visitation with family will be held from 2 until 4 o'clock, Saturday, July 26th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
