George Griffith Obituary

George Richard Griffith Jr., born on January 12, 1960, in Greenville, SC, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at his home in Columbia, SC. Rick, as he was known by friends and family, was the only son of the late George Richard Sr. and Anjoy Griffith. He was an avid lover of music, having played drums in various local bands over the years. Professionally, Rick was an IT field service technician with IBM and enjoyed his travels, often capturing fun and quirky Americana points of interest along the way. He was a thoughtful and loving husband and father, and a kind, reliable friend to all who knew him. He was welcomed into the Catholic faith a year ago and was a member of The Basilica of Saint Peter in Columbia, SC. Rick will be forever cherished and remembered by his wife, Suzanne; daughter, Ashely; and grandson, Aleksander. His only sibling, Marjorie Griffith Carosiello; nephew, Anthony Griffith (Griff) Carosiello; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive him. He leaves behind countless other family members and friends who will miss him but remember him fondly. A Mass will be offered for Rick at The Basilica of Saint Peter in Columbia, SC, on Tuesday, July 22, at noon. It was Rick's specific request to not have a traditional funeral. Instead, a gathering is being planned for a future date for his family and friends to share their memories with each other over food and drink.
