Devin Helms Obituary

Devin Lee Helms, age 38, of Lexington, SC, was called home by our Lord and Savior on April 25, 2025, in Dalzell, SC.
Devin was born on December 10, 1986, in Lexington, SC, to David Helms and Wendy (Helms) Gaitan. He graduated from Midlands Technical College with an Associate's Degree in Business and managed For Pet's Sake, a premier pet grooming salon, where he was known for his dedication and caring nature toward the pets, their owners, and the employees.
A strong Christian, Devin actively studied the Word and never hesitated to share his faith. He would witness to anyone willing to stand still long enough to hear the Good News (John 3:16). He loved all people, often reaching out to the homeless and others in need. He was truly a man of God.
A lifelong animal lover, Devin found great joy in caring for dogs and often shared a special bond with each one he met. He was also an accomplished rider, competing in the National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA). In 2002, he proudly qualified for and competed in the Youth World Championship. His compassion extended far beyond animals - Devin was a talented artist who loved to draw everything from self-portraits to humorous doodles. He also found both focus and fun at the shooting range. The Lord blessed him with an abundance of gifts, and his gentle spirit, sense of humor, and creative energy touched everyone who knew him.
Devin was predeceased by his father, David Helms; his paternal grandparents, Danny and Fran Helms; and his maternal grandfather, William Royson. He is survived by his mother, Wendy (Robert) Gaitan; his brothers, Garrison Helms, Tyler (Kara) Graiff, and Jeffrey Graiff; his maternal grandmother, Donna Barfield; his uncles, Tommy Royson, Bobby (Cindy) Royson, and Dean (Christie) Royson; his aunts, Erika (Parker) Dominick and Robin (David) Lorick; as well as extended family and close friends who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service to commemorate Devin's life will be held at Red Hill Baptist Church, 4692 Red Hill Rd., Camden, SC 29020, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM. All who knew and loved Devin are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Endtime Ministries in Devin's memory, a cause close to his heart.
His life was a blessing and a treasure. He is missed beyond words and loved beyond measure.
