Delilah Green Obituary

Delilah Johnson Green was born on March 30, 1955, the beloved daughter of Pernice Brailsford Johnson and the late Thomas Johnson, Sr. in Clarendon County, South Carolina. Throughout her life, she was a source of strength, compassion, and unwavering love, and dedicated her life to her family, nurturing those around her with kindness and grace. As a mother, she was nurturing and selfless, as a friend, loyal and dependable. Delilah was a beacon of warmth and kindness to all who knew her. She peacefully transitioned from this life on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
Delilah was educated in the public schools in Clarendon County. She was united in Holy Matrimony to James W. Green and to their union two children were born, Eric and Michelle.
At an early age, she joined Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church of Summerton, SC and later joined Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Pinewood, SC (Panola Community). When Delilah moved to Columbia, she joined Gill Creek Baptist Church, where she sang on the Sanctuary Choir and assisted in other auxiliaries within the church.
Within the community, Delilah was actively engaged with Voters Registration. She worked various jobs over the years, but the one that was near and dear to her heart was her work as a baker at Winn Dixie Supermarket. From that job she started her personal baking business called Delilah's Mix. Delilah brought joy to others with her sweet treats and wedding cakes.
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her siblings, Wilbur A. Johnson, Deloris Ragin, Rebecca Johnson, and Thomasina Johnson.
She is lovingly survived by her son, Eric Green of Atlanta GA; and daughter, Michelle (Dr. Frederick Marshall G.) Evans of Columbia, SC; eight grandchildren, Shannen (Toni) Parker, Shakei Green, Shaina Holliday, Maliq K. Green, Erica Green, Makayla Evans, Sophia Green, and Savannah Green; five great grandchildren, Konner Green, Kannen Green, Paris Green, Antonius Parker, Jr., and Journee Parker; her loving and caring mother, Pernice Brailsford Johnson of Queens, NY; loving sisters, Shirley Johnson of Bronx, NY, and Leona Johnson of Summerton, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends all of whom she loved dearly and who will forever cherish her memory.
