Deanne Summer Obituary

Deanne Maree Summer passed peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025. She was born in Columbia, South Carolina on November 30, 1958, and was the daughter of Ellen Summer Davis and the late James William Summer. Ms. Summer graduated from Irmo High School in 1976 and was a National Merit Scholar. She studied at the University of Life -- working in various fast food and department store companies until opening her own business, Mongo Games and More. She later became a dealer and employee at Old Mill Antique Mall. Ms. Summer loved the mountains and nature. She enjoyed coffee on the porch listening to her wind chimes and watching the birds. Ms. Summer enjoyed shooting pool and was an avid Gamecock football and ladies basketball fan. Ms. Summer is survived by her mother Ellen Summer Davis of Cayce, SC, her stepmother Jane Crist Summer of Wedgefield, SC; her sister Margaret (Mike) Causey of Cayce, SC, brother Michael Derek Summer of Cayce, SC, sister in law Martha Summer of Grayslake, IL, stepbrother Richard Wayne Bedser Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC, stepsister Juliet Brandon Bedser of Wedgefield, SC; her nieces Megan Joy Summer of Mesa, AZ, Lauren(Matthew) Causey Hoffman of Swansea, SC, Michele (Tyler) Summer Hammack of Duluth, GA, Teresa Ellen Causey of Columbia, SC, Mollyanne Hope Summer of Grayslake, IL, Melissa Grace Summer of Grayslake, IL, Roxana (Braxton) Bedser Turner of Valdosta, GA, and McKenzie Faith Summer of Grayslake, IL; her great-nieces River and Edelweiss Summer Herschel of Mesa, AZ and great-nephew Benjamin Hammack of Duluth, GA. Ms. Summer was predeceased by her brother David Carl Summer of Grayslake IL. The family would like to express our gratitude to Kia, Dale and everyone from Pruitt Health Hospice of Columbia, SC. They treated Deanne with kindness and compassion. The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the West Columbia Community Center located at 754 B Avenue, West Columbia, SC.
