David Mewbourn Obituary

Mr. David Alvin Mewbourn, 78, of Columbia, died on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Mr. Mewbourn was born on February 11, 1947, in Aiken, SC, to the late Fredrick Mewbourn and Betty Mewbourn.

Above all, David loved the Lord. He was an active member at Oakwood Baptist Church, where one of his passions was cooking for the Oakwood Baptist Church Men's Prayer Breakfast Group. In his free time, David enjoyed camping, going to the flea market and spending time with his fur baby, Mya. His love for hunting and fishing were evident as he had a lifetime license for recreational hunting and fishing.

David was blessed with many special friends. One of those friends was Ricky Smith, who he had known for many years. He was also blessed with friends in his neighborhood. His neighborhood friends were close and often could be found caring for each other as needs arose.

A Celebration of Life for David will be held on Tuesday, December 23, at 10:30 am, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Extension, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at 12:00 pm, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
